DVD 9

I keep getting a message while attempting to burn DVD's to insert DVD9 discs... i have the firmware and program updated on my computer...have gone to the store and found DVD9 discs.....was just wondering if there is anyway to make the drive compatible with basic DVD's and not only DVD9 compatible?

what program are you using?? make sure you haven't selected dual layer dvds when you want to use single layer,,, there is that option in sonic and nero programs

I am using Sonic....and cant find where it says if it is burning single or double layered.....where would that be?
