dvd froze

Question

I tried to burn a dvd (for the first time) of a movie I made from movie maker using digital pictures. It seemed to take forever and after about 25 minutes I realized that my computer froze. The dvd drive was still humming but I could not stop it and had to turn my computer off by disconnecting it from the outlet. When I finally got my dvd out, it was very warm. I don't know if my dvd recorder is not working or if I did something wrong.

It would be helpful to know the model of your computer, the model of the DVD writer (you can find this in control panel), and the specific type of blank discs you are using (brand, format and speed).

Please bear with me. I'm not too good with computers. I have a Dimension E510. I'm not sure about the DVD. I found this #. Is this what you mean? HLDTSTDVD-ROM GCR81648 I'm using Maxell DVD-R 4.7 16X 2 hours. Thanks for your help.

Your drive can read DVDs but it cannot write to DVDs. In order to write to DVD media, you need a DVD±RW drive. And internal IDE (also known as ATA or PATA, but not SATA) drive will work in your machine.
