DVD R or RW???
I have a two drive system (Dimension 8300) and recently had my DVD-R die. I was thinking of simply replacing the unit with a newer unit. After checking around, I found I can get a bigger, better faster R/W for not much more money that reads more formats -- the whole 9 yards. In addition, I'd like to read and write -R disks; I can only read +R disks and this has been a problem a few times. It looks like the speeds are comparable. Is there any reason not to do this? Any problem having to R/W drives and one as the master?
Here's what I have:
E: JLMS DVD-ROM XJ-HD166, Rev DD05 to be replaced.
F: _NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD, Rev 103D
F: _NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD, Rev 103D
Also, is the lightspeed technology a gee whiz cool thing or something practical to have. I've read about the timing issues, but would like opinions on whether this is good value for the extra few bucks.
Thanks much.
