DVD-R upgrade

 Hi,
I'm looking to get a DVD-R drive but I don't know what to get or look for that would be compatible with my system. I have a Dell Dimension 8400 3GHz, 1GB SDRAM, 160 HD, Dual drives: 16x DVD-Rom, 48X CD-RW drive. Which is better to get an external or internal DVD-R? What brands will work best with my system? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks

The only advantage of an external drive is that you can move it from one system to another. In terms of speed and stability, an internal drive is much better. Pretty much any internal IDE DVD burner will work. In terms of brands, both Plextor and Pioneer get good marks here.

I recommend www.techbargains.com as a great place to look for deals.
