Hi, Tbarela:

You must provide some information about your system hardware and software.

Please work through these standard troubleshooting steps first.

Secondly, check the drive properties of your DVD burner by right clicking the drive in My Computer and selecting Properties, and tell me if you see a recording tab and if CD recording is enabled for the drive.

Hi, so i found out that the record button was disabled, and i was so excited.  Now i have another problem  When i open up the software, which is Roxio, and i go to copy it says not drives detected, which in the past it has never said that.  Someone had recommended to clean registers and im not sure if that is what messed things up... please help....

Hi, Toby:

Yes, the next step is to delete the upper and lower filters in the registry. Sounds scary but fortunately, Microsoft has a great guided help, if you go to this site. Following those instructions, you can't go wrong.

Can you tell me exactly...

1. what kind of disc you're trying to burn, data, music, video, etc.,

2. the program you are using and

3. the brand, speed and format of your blank discs.

I would try uninstalling Roxio, then reinstalling it.
