i am posting this email from a deaf friend of mine here in the UK i wonder if any member of your community can provide the solution to her problem??? many thanks
gee txs for the emails. i have had this dell lap for 12 months and have never used the dvd part. its a samsung cdrw/dvd sn 308b combi. on sunday i tried to play my first dvd nowt. iv checked all my settings etc got loads of codecs got win dvd and powerdvd etc etc using xp home etc etc.
when i tried powerdvd i get message saying unsupported file type in drive d
wndvd nothing happens
if i click on dvd drive it keeps on saying please put disk in tray
i have noticed that in wmp the box on left which should say dvd cd etc is greyed out
i asked pc world 2day and they were stumped. i cant phone dell as i cant hear on phone and i dont want to send lap back to dell.
its an dell inspirion 2.6 256 ram 30 hhd cdrw/dvd
its frustrating thats why i have really appreciated ur help patience and perseverance.im d/l the codecs and ill let u know what happens txs again
once again many thanks if anyone can indeed provide a solution as contact with Dell in the UK is proving fruitless

go into device manager and right click samsung cdrw/dvd sn 308b> properties.
Click the region tab and make sure that it's set to region 2 which is the correct region for UK specific DVDs.
Try playing the DVD again!
