dvd/cd burner
Installed a LG GSA-2166D external DVD/CD burner and now have no sound from either existing CD/DVD player or new LG drive. Sound works perfectly for system audio and cd/mp3 files. Video works well in both drives but no sound. System components: ATI 64MB PCI-Express x16 DVI/TVout Radeon x300se. Also, have lost video in media center. Decoder Error when trying to watch live TV. System scanned and updates installed. ???? Any ideas????

Hi Blackmon,
If you disconnect the External DVD/RW, does the sound and video in Media center come back?
If no, then you may need to at least consider reinstalling your sound card drivers. Some have had fair success with XP`s Restore feature, roll the system back before the installation of the drive.
If the drive is USB, did you consider uninstalling the USB hub from Device Manager and re-booting?
Best Regards!
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.
