dvd+/rw, 8x, ide, dmod, nfi
hey i have some q's about figuring out how to get my dvd /cd burning capabilities goin'...
i put a dvd in and it would not read it. it said that there are no compatible programs installed on comp (Latitude d510). can i just find a download on the dell support site to fix this or is it that i am doing something wrong?

Start | Control Panel | System (in classic view) | Hardware tab | Device Manager
Click the ( + ) next to DVD/CD-ROM drive. This will reveal the Brand and Model.

josefeen - you will need DVD playback software (I suggest Cyberlink's Power DVD) & DVD/CD burning software (I suggest Ahead's Nero Burning ROM).

alright it's a _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A...and please don't tell me this kind can't burn cds or dvds ---i have been thru that once already
i tried to download some software but to no avail...it said that i did not have a proper decoder...so am at a complete loss

josefeen - you have the best available notebook burner available.
You need the Dell/CyberLink Power DVD software to view DVD movies.
