Enabling RAID on 5150

Hi,

I just purchased a 5150 with a single 160GB hard drive, and I am planning to take out the 160GB and put in two 300GB SATA for RAID 1. I have purchased the Windows Reinstall CD.

What is the best way to do it?

Can I take out the 160GB, put in the two 300GB, enable RAID in BIOS and then run the re-install cd?

Or do I need to take out the 160GB, put in two 300GB, DISABLE RAID, then re-install windows on one of the 300GB, then use the Matrix Manager to migrate to RAID 1?

I have no experience with Intel's RAID, so I have no idea if the above scenario is even valid (eg. RAID setting in BIOS).

Also, is there any way to copy whatever on the 160GB to the 300GB(s)? If I re-install windows, I will need to install those drivers and application from Dell. That will take longer.

Thanks.

Thanks shesagordie. The link does answer my question about the RAID hardware.

Any know a good way to migrate a 160G to a 300GB(s) RAID? Is ghost going to work?

Sorry can't help you on the Ghost question. I've only used Acronis, CasperXP and the old PowerQuest's Drive Image 2002 software.

Maybe another member can step in, to help.
