External drive for games

My son got a inspiron 1525 running vista for a graduation present. It has a 2gb. Hard drive and runs his game fine, he loaded one on it. He does not want to load all his games on his computer hard drive but would like to get an external drive to put them on. Will this work and if so what hard drive should he get. Thanks for any help.

I have a 500gb 7200rpm my book and i have a few games loaded on it and it works.I would suggest an external that uses a power supply. It is really up to you/him which he preffers to use,and you can purchase them from dell, best buy, circuit city etc...

Is that the 'Western Digital My Book Essential 500GB'? I'm looking into buying one at the moment and wanted to know if this is a good drive.
