External Drive--USB#1 or USB#2
i am looking at an external hardrive advertised by dell for my Dimension 8200 bought in 2001.
However USB2 port is required. Looking at my device manager it states--under "universal serial bus controllers" that i have the following:
Intel(r)82801BA/BAM USB UNIVERSAL HOST CONTROLLER -2442 (and 2444).
there is also listed a USB Root Hub.
unable from this to tell whether these are USB 2 hubs or USB 1 Hubs.
If they are USB 1 will they work, or, if not, is there a way to get a USB 2 Hub on this computer for
an external hardrive. many thanks. feb, KCMO.

You can go to support.Dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8200/specs.htm for your system specifications. You may have to insert your Service Tag. I don't recall. Anyway I went through that procedure for my Dimension 8250. All the detail specs for your system are there. I also added a Firewire card which I am using for my external Seagate 200Gb Drive.
