EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE

Question

I use a Dimension 2400 my 'C' drive is only 1GB and is full I have and external 500 can I transfer most of the programs to the external Har Drive to clear my 'C' Drive and how I can do it ?

I can assure you, your internal hard drive is quite a bit larger than 1 GB. So the question becomes, How big is it and how is it divided up. Please use disk management (click here for instructions) to see what size drive you have and how much space is allocated to each partition.

To answer your question, yes, you can move files and programs, but we need to see how things are set up currently in order to make helpful recommendations.

I`m sorry you are correct 40 GB and is divided in System tools, Storages and Services and Applications

If you right click your C: drive in My Computer and select Properties, you'll see how much free space you have. Perhaps your free space is getting low.

Getting the external drive was certainly a good idea. Here are my suggestions for using this:

Move non-critical files/folders to a folder on the external drive.
Keep a copy of critical files/folders on the external drive.
To move applications, you must uninstall the application then reinstall it, selecting the external drive.
