Failing HDD for Latitude E6500
I have a Mid 2008 Latitude E6500, (Core 2 DUO P6400 + 4 GB ram + Nvidia NVS 160M) with a failing samsung SSD (HM251JJ with free fall sensor @7200 RPM).
Replacement is currently not available / out of production and my motherboard does not support the newer 4K sector HDD's.
I need a replacement HDD @7200 RPM. SSD or NON SSD
I tried to look for new drivers / bios etc for my Intel PM45 chipset and everything is updated. Still not compatibility with 4k sector HDD's.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks
Alok

Hello Alok,
Your current drive is a mechanical hard drive, not an SSD. What OS are you going to install?
I searched the Dell site and found this hard drive, which supports your laptop.
If you are interested in an SSD that supports data encryption, Seagate sells SSDs that support FIPS as well.

What operating system and version (i.e., WIndows 7 Pro 64 bit, etc.) are you trying to install?

Hi,
I had a similar problem.
The E6500 motherboard does not support the newer HDD which are 4K sector compatible. There were no driver updates available as well for the same.
Windows installation will not complete successfully.
You need to buy a older version of HDD, pre 4K sector ones.
Let me know how it goes.
