Hard drive controller Dimension 4300
Hi my hard drive died and I want to replace with somthing larger than 120 gigs. If I add a PCI hard drive controller will this get around the 120 gig limit in the bios. keep in mind that this is not an secondary drive I will be booting off this larger disk. I also will be upgrading the bios to A06, I don't know if this will make any differance.

Thanks for the reply I think that what I am going to do for now is buy a small hard drive 160gig. I know that it will probably only see 120 gig. but I can live with that. If I need more storage then I will let the small drive be my boot disk and add more space through PCI hardive controllers or the Firewire card that is currently in the system.

Hi Matrix512,
Assuming that you turn off the hard drives in the bios then I would see a problem with your choice. Note that you'll probably need the controller driver for your add-in card for setup (unless your OS already has the driver applied).
