Hard drive not found?

I turned on my 8250 to find a message saying the primary hard drive was not found,  Could I have a virus?  The cables are connected correctly.  Everything was fine the day before and the machine was not moved.  Any thoughts out there?

You should immediately run Dell diagnostics on your drive to determine if there is a problem. You can run them from your resource disc or floppies, so a hard drive is not needed.

Sounds like you may have a dead drive on your hands.

Yes, I'm getting the same thing. Dimension 8250 just five months old. Says primary hard drive not found; press F1 to continue or F2 to enter set up. This just started happening last week. Happened for the second time tonight. In both cases the Puter had been off and unplugged for 2 or 3 days. After warming up, the machine boots normally. Called tech support; they said possibly the hard drive is going bad. Suppose to unplugg and shut down tonight and have them call me before next bootup.
