Hard Drive Storage

I consider myself to be somewhat computer literate and savvy. However, I heard something that I cannot find information about in regards to hard drives and storage. Recently, I was told that if your hard drive storage capacity is more than half occupied, you will experience some degradation in speed and performance. I know that as you encroach hard drive storage capacity, you will experience some degradation. However, I thought that started around 75% capacity or higher. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is there some degradation (some I'm sure) significant, as long as the drive has more that 25% free space & is not severaly fragmented, performance should not be greatly affected.

Khaught,

It all depends on what you find in a Google search, anywhere between 60% to 80%, if you defrag regularly, you`ll not see the difference on newer drives.
