Help! DVD drivers corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
I have a Dimension 3000 with with NEC DVD+RW-ND3100 and a Samsung DVD-ROM SD-616E.
While loading some software for a Kodak Digital Camera I managed to corrupt or erase my drivers for both the DVD ROM and DVD RW drives.
When I look at the device manager the drives show up but a look at properties yeilds the following message.
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
I have uninstalled both devices, tried troubleshooting, and even downloading new drivers from the Samsung and NEC.
My question is how do I install new drivers without the use of a CD or DVD drive?
I am unfamiliar with trying to do things while the system is booting and I am leary of trying anything with the BIOS. I am worried I will do more damage and have a lot of files (music, pictures, ect) that I don't want to lose. Obviously backing those files up with a DVD prior to trying anything isn't going to happen. I could back them up on a thumb drive.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
