HELP Inaccessible boot device error

I'm having big problems on an older Dell Latitude CPi A.

As Windows is booting up I get a STOP: 0x0000007B (0x814612F0,0xC0000006,0x00000000,0x00000000) Inaccessible boot device.

I reboot and go into dell setup and the HDD is recognized. Tried booting off the Windows CD, but it says no hard drive is connected.

Any ideas, unfortunately haven't backed up for a while and have a lot of data on this hard drive so hoping I can rescue it somehow.

Appreciate the help!

Firstly, reseat your hard drive, although I doubt this will fix your problem. I would suggest to try running the diags from the dell resource cd. If the hdd tests fail, then your hdd needs replacing. You could also try to install this hard drive into a desktop machine and copy the important data across. You could use a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter, or an external usb caddy to do this. Then try reloading windows on your existing hdd.
