help me to understand missing hard disk space

Question

i have read the faq for hdd with reported capacity for my 100gig hdd really meaning 95.4gig

(in bios it reports the 100gig being 98gig due to hidden 2 gig for media direct.. i'm down with that)

disk management is windows reports it as 91.74 gig minus the 2 gig of hidden space.

that really then adds up to 93.74gig.... where is the other two gig that bios reports.

i scrolled down and found an entry for virtual memory and page file space.. does this account for the missing two gig

A 100gb drive will show as 93.0gb in Windows.

thanks for the extremely quick reply.  by the way.. can i reclaim the 2 gig that media direct has taken when i upgrade to vista... i dont use the media direct button at all and rarely use the media experience.. i'm not gunna format the partitions etc because dell system restore is cool.

When you go to Vista the Dell PC Restore will no longer function...
