help

I have a latitude d600 and installed XP upgrade from 2000 and now it will not boot up and the error message is "windows will not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \system32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please reinstall a copy of the file.

Where do I find that file?

You should have done a clean install of W-XP. Yes, you can do a clean install using a Upgrade
W-XP CD; there will be an extra step in the install when you will be asked for an older version CD- which can be W95/NT/98/98SE/W2k- for use as a "kicker" and for setup to scan. Afterwards, you will be prompted to put back the W-XP Upgrade CD, and the setup will continue just like a so-called full set. Everything that is on a so-called full set is on an upgrade CD too, but there is this extra lock to undo with an older version CD
