If you have played a DVD (a commercial DVD assumed ) on your system before
then you have a DVD drive and Decoder software.  The DVD drive will indicate
so on the front of it with a molded or labeled "DVD".  Then look in your list
of programs for WinDVD or PowerDVD.  Start the DVD decoder software and insert
the DVD into the correct drive and you are on your way.

You have to have a DVD-ROM drive or a DVD Burner; and you have to
have DVD Decoder software (i.e. WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc) installed.
What do you have in your system?

If it says "compact disc rewritable" and does not say "DVD" on the front, then
it is a CDRW drive.  It is not capable of playing DVDs.  I have no idea how you
did so in the past.

You will need a DVD-ROM drive or a DVD Burner to play DVDs. A DVD decoder is
usually supplied with these drives.
