If anyone can help...
Hey there,
Lately my inspiron 9100 has been freezing and giving me problems. So I had a brillant idea the other night, and decided to re-install windows XP home. I'm not even sure if I have all my recovery disks that came with the computer since my house was cleaned out since hurricane katrina and I wasn't able to go back in to see if I had any more computer disks that I could save. The disks I have are the recovery disk itself, one drivers disk, a dvd software disk, mysonic disk, and a couple of other programs such as wordperfect and microsoft money. I re-installed windows and it seemed to work fine, except that the volume and audio won't work on the computer. For some reason the computer won't read my audio card in the computer. And it let me install my drivers from the disk that came with the computer, but it for some reason it wouldn't let me re-install the MySonic software, on that disk all there are are free games to try, no actual software. And my computer won't recognize an ethernet cord when its plugged in. I wasn't able to renew my warrenty before it expired and so I now I'm kind of stuck. If anyone has any pointers, please let me know. I'm not sure what I did wrong and I probably shouldn't have resorted to totally re-installing windows. Thanks guys.

p.s. I deleted the partions (I'm not sure what they're called) when re-installing...hopefully that wasn't another really bad move..

All your problems with audio, etc. is to do with the drivers. As you said, you have installed them, have the problems been solved?
If your system is less than 3 years old, you could just reset to 'factory' status by using Ctrl + F11. Now, the bad news... have you REALLY deleted the partitions (there should be 3 partitions)? Check it by using the method suggested in >>> http://www.goodells.net/dellrestore/fixes.htm
I have tried reinstalling Sonic MyDVD and found exactly the same the problem as you... installation said there is not enough space when clearly there is as I did not have any other application installed! I have to recover my system from the factory image located in the 3rd partition.
