Inspirion 5150 dvd/cd-r combo, does it play dvd-r's?

​I just bought an inspirion and it came with a dvd/cd-r combo drive. My question is, can it read dvd-r disks? I need to back up alot of data from my current machine and it would be alot easier to run it off of a few dvd-rs than a bunch cd-r's.​
