Install XP on second hard drive

I would like to install Windows XP on a newly installed, second hard drive - for back-up purposes.  It appears that the Windows disc supplied with my diminsion 8400 can only be used to reinstall on the original drive, not a second drive.  I get no help from Dell since it is not a "hardware" problem.  Does anyone know how to use this disc to install XP on a second drive?
Thanks

You can do this, but the second drive will not be bootable - the boot sector will go on the first drive.

To install XP on an 8400, prepare the SATA driver floppy, and make sure you have an internal floppy diskette drive.

Boot the XP CD, press F6 when indicated, insert the floppy and continue the install.

NOte that doing this WILL DEACTIVATE THE DELL-SYMANTEC QUICK RESTORE.
