Instld HD but error " stop: c0000221 unknown hard error\systemroot\system32\ntdll.dll"

Ok anyone!! please before I bang my head threw a wall and the Dell goes out the window. I replaced a brand new HD from Dell into an Inspiron/1100 but when I now try to install Window XP as the OS onto this HD .. well for the first 10 times it told me there were no bootable sectors. However now I can get it to pull the download it goes all the way threw to the end, states .."system is tarting windows" Then all of a sudden I get " stop: c0000221 unknown hard error\systemroot\system32\ntdll.dll" and everything freezes and I am at my wits end. I have downloaded and reistalled the ntdll.dll file since it implies that they were corrupted. But this has not helped. I have a low level of computer experience with NoteBooks and have no respect for Dell.. Can someone please please help me out here. In simple easy step by step info..lol
