Intel Application Accelerator Won't Install (XPS Gen2)
System is a year old. Did a bare-drive install of XPP using all the drivers from this site. Working great. Missed, then later saw the IAA program, read posts about it here, decided to install it. Can't. I realize there are two programs. One is the driver the other is the application. Downloaded and ran the driver (chipset install) no problem, but the IAA install program says "incompatible hardware." Going nuts here. Have downloaded progs from the Intel site (v2.3) as well as this site, specific to my XPS. Nothing is working, no SATA controller is listed in Device Manager.
I searched and found tons of hits discussing this but nothing suggested has worked.
Is it NOT possible to install the IAA application if you didn't press F6 during the OS install when it asks for third party RAID drivers?
I would like to have the IAA software on here since that is what it came with originally.
Thanks, kj

You need to install the Pre-OS drivers to install the Intel Application Accelerator.
Also you must have your BIOS (SETUP) set for SATA RAID=On or something like that. Otherwise you will not be able to the RAID Pre-OS driver. I am guessing you may have changed your BIOS setting otherwise you would of never got it installed in the first place, since you would of got a message about not being able to find the HD.
You may have to restart the installation to get it on. May want to check out this thread where some one came up with a solution on a 8400 to install the drivers without a diskette.

I just recently went through the normal procedure to insall Windows using the F6 option and all went well.

Unless your planning on seting up RAID, all may be ok without the driver. I do remember some claiming that you get a bit better performance with the SATA RAID setting to yes and having the driver installed, even on a none RAID system.
I have mine setup as RAID 1, which is sort of nice saves me from file loose due to hardware failure.
