InterVideo WinDVD problems

Everything was working fine, I was able to watch DVDs one day, then the next day I would put a DVD in, InterVideo would pop up and then just sit there at 0:00:00 and not play.  Have tried many DVDs that work in other DVD players.  Sometimes I get an error concerning the "color overlay" and the suggestion to change my resolution or color depth.  I tried changing the resolution, no help there.  Any ideas?  Should I just scrap InterVideo and go with some other DVD playing software?

Ex.Nihilo,

Welcome to the Dell Community Forum (DCF).
So your sitting at 0:00, what happens when you press play?

When I press play most of the time nothing happens.  Every once in a while it pops back to the InterVideo screen that you get on startup.

Ex.Nihilo,

Sometimes when a DVD is inserted, it tries to install another DVD software decoder. Do you remember anything like that happening?

No information comes up when the DVD is inserted.  It goes right to a black screen as though it is going to play the DVD, then sits and does nothing.  If I select the 'playlist' option I can go to the e: drive and add some of the .vob files from the DVD directly to the playlist.  When I then play the playlist, I actually see the video, but it's really choppy and skips back and forth....  Any ideas?  If not, do you know of any other free software for viewing DVDs?
