Lingering shutdown problems, AOL problems after virus eliminated
Hi,
The computer ( Win ME Dimension 4100 Pentium III ) has trouble shutting down, I have to maually close a number of applications by Cntl-Alt-Del one at a time, and often end up with hard kill ( press & hold off/on button). Listed in the application box when pressing Cntl-Alt-Del to shutdown may ( but not always ) include: Companion, Acsd, Rundll32, and msgsrv32-not responding.
I have just downloaded & run Norton antivirus, it found/quarantined Trojan.StartPage, which fixed several problems.
After eliminating Trojan, I attempted a system restore, but the last restore date is from June 2004, I don't know if the restore should be that old. ( shouldn't the system restore be setting restore dates steadily? ).
Error messages before eliminating Trojan ( but haven't recurred since ) include: Upon opening AOL, "Rundll32 has caused an error", " Acsd error in ACSD.exe", Acsd ahs caused an error in Kernel32.DLL".
Help? Thanks,
Graham
