Replace the CMOS battery. It's a CR-2032 lithium button cell, on the mainboard.

How do I go about doing this? Should I send it to dell or what? And if I don't replace it will my computer stop working?

June 8th, 2005 20:00

When I start my computer up I get a warning on a black screen that says

Warning Low System Battery voltage press F1 to continue press F2 to go to setup.

What should I do to fix this?

The battery costs about $3 anywhere - CVS, Target, Staples, etc. Unplug the system, pop out the battery, insert the new one and you're done.

If you do not replace it eventually your BIOS will lose its settings, and you'll have to reset the clock, boot sequence, etc., on every powerup.

Where is the battery exactly. When you say mainboard what do you mean? What does it look like, really small or is it big enough that i'll know what it is?

Also, do you think you could help me out here

Thanks alot.

The battery will look like this

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00007E7WC/103-9459802-8507808?v=glance

and be in plain sight on the mainboard (the main system board inside the case).

Gangstaman590.

The procedures for replacing the battery in a D8250 are in your owner's manual.
