Making a slave drive work

I have an xp dell dimension 1100 desktop that went to the blue screen of death & was unrecoverable. I have lots of photos on the hardisk that are not backed up.

So I installed the disk as a slave inside a Dell Dimension 2400, it shows as disks F & G, the properties say the disk is working OK, I have set the BIOS for the disk to AUTO.

When I try to use either F or G it sais the disk is not formatted - do you want to format it, but of course I don't want to format as I will lose the photos I am trying to recover.

Any ideas please as to how I can get F & G drives to work without formatting.

Hi Paulgibo,

I think you'll need something more robust to recover those files. It sounds like that drive has died an untimely death. I would start Googling data recovery software.
