Mediahub.exe & C++ Errors when using Roxio Creator LE Dell Edition

Question

These three errors when using Roxio Creator LE Dell Edition. Brand new Dell XPS 410, less than 3 weeks old. Occurred the first time I tried to burn a CD.

1. Mediahub.exe error
2. Mediahub.exe error
3. C++ Error Runtime error, referencing Mediahub.exe

I've talked with Dell XPS support and with Roxio. Roxio says this is an error that Dell will have to correct, Dell said this is an error that Roxio will have to correct.

This is my first Dell computer, I thought I was buying a top-of-the-line system with premium support, but in the first three weeks of owning the computer, I've probably spent 5-8 hours on the phone with Dell support trying to figure out this problem as well as integrated sound problems!

I'm very discouraged. What should my next step be? How can I get this resolved?

Well it seems you're a victim of a virus or some malware buddy.. That's what is going to create the error listed.. Maybe looking into this: http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_Removal_and_Prevention:_Introduction   Or try rolling back to the day before this issue happened... You downloaded something that brought in the issue OR it could have been WMP11 which alot of people had issues with...   OR reinstalling the whole OS and starting over... BEST OPTION so you can get rid of all the Dell junk they send you - AOL etc.. _____ware!   BRY

there is more about this error in this forum.... did u install Windows Player 11 recently.... Media Player 11 is not compatable with the sonic software.. if u recently installed WMP 11 go to add remove programs uninstall Windows Media Player 11 reboot your PC .. WMP will revert back to an earlier version and your burning software should be fine. Both Dell and Roxio misslead u , they are aware of the problem but will not give u a solution or a newer version of the software ... u bougth a new PC with Out Dated Software that is incompatible with the Latest Microsoft Software.. your only other option is to buy New Burning software ..Welcome To Dell

I did read about the conflicts between WMP 11 and Sonic.  My concern at this time is whether or not this problem will be addressed so that the software supplied by Dell is compatible with WMP 11 and/or Vista.

i strongly doubt they will have a patch for this software as its version 7 and the new version is 9 .. the Version 7 is a few years old now  , but dell still installs the old software  its all about $$$$

I have been in touch with Dell and been told by more than one person that this will be fixed...nobody knows when. They say that I have version 8.2 (the latest) version of the software. The XPS 410 was sold to me as a 'Vista ready' machine with a free upgrade. Obviously, someone is going to have to release a patch or else this software will not run with Vista (or at least that is my assumption since WMP 11 comes as a part of Vista).

I have exchanged numerous e-mails with a Dell representative. He is insisting that WMP11 does work for SOME customers along with the Dell supplied Roxio software. Can anyone confirm that the combination of Dell supplied Roxio software and WMP11 do work together?

This representative insists that a system restore will correct this...even after I install WMP 11, but I don't believe it. A system restore is a lot of work...and I don't want to invest the time without a pretty high level of assurance it will work.

Any thoughts?

a system restore will not fix this problem.. why would it , as u are reinstalling all the same programs and software with out some kind of patch or new Sonic-Roxio software

original error message was published on January. it's 6 months later, just got a new latitude D620 and still the same prob. also, when i try to use the 'Check for updates' feature from menu, i get the error: Currently another session of Update Service is running on your machine   one word for you: Lenovo. it's everything Thinkpad used to be, plus much better service than IBM was ever offering

Roxio said Dell would release a Patch but ive never seen a Dell Patch anywhere .. use this Roxio released patch worked for me ..the file is 30MB installs a newer version of the software

This fixed the problem for me, too...once I finally realized that clicking on the link was sending me to a non-existant page. The address in the clicked link was http://www.roxio.com/content/kb/Digital%20Media%20Studio/000058MD but it should be http://www.roxio.com/content/kb/Digital Media Studio/000058MD or, in words, the same as above but delete the '%20' between Digital and Media and Media and Studio and put a single space between the words instead. Hopefully my effort to register for this site was worth it and this will help someone save the hour or so it took me to figure this out. (By the way, why does Dell make me give them such a complex password for this site and then email it to me???) --Jeff
