Modem usb v92 56K

You will able to send fax and data using the fax software in Windows using the Dell USB 56K v92 External Fax Modem, however, it cannot be used to receive incoming calls.  Classic Phone Tools from Avanquest is third party software that claims to add Fax and Phone from your PC with Computer Fax Software. This software is not included with the modem.

So that modem does not handle "voice".

Damn. Can you recommend a modem that does handle voice via USB?

For over 10  years I have used my pc to provide "voicemail".

My old Dell Dimension (and previous ones) had an internal modem so I plugged in my phone line, downloaded software (Classic phonetools from avanquest) and bingo my pc had become a fax machine and answering machine. The advantages of this seem to me:

1. i dont need a separate machine

2. it records and stores messages (digitally) for ever - I can still look back to messages in 1999 if I want!

3. It records the numbers of all unanswered callers - even if no message left (back to 1990s with time and date)

4. I can see on screen who's ringing before I answer.

5  I get 4 or more rings before I need to pick up.

Now my Dell Vostro 1520 doesnt have an internal modem does it? i really need to get voicemail via the vostro.

Thank you for your reply. Dell USB Dialup modem can support incoming calls while using the Internet. Vostro 1520 does not contain an internal Dialup modem. However, I have searched online and found a Dialup modem that can handle voice over USB.  Please visit the following link for further information:
