Music to DVD+R

I've ask this question before, in a way, but I'd like to ask it differently. Hopefully, someone has the answer or can provide some assistance.

Question: Is it possible to burn music from Windows Media Player 9 to DVD+R or must I use DVD-R? Can you burn music to DVD disc from Media Player at all. I have a multi-format burner. I would just like to know if it's possible so I can avoid the unnecessary purchase of DVD-R and avoid rendering one of my blank disc (DVD+R) useless to find out.

Also, I read somewhere that "-R" is primarily for music and data, "+R" is primarily for video. Is this true?

I appreciate any assistance given. Thanks in advance.

Here is some info I got from the local newspaper, several months ago.  Although it doesn't address music, as most assume DVD's are going to be used for video or data, it may help

DVD-R and DVD-RW. The first recordable format, allows users to write to a disc only once.  The DVD-RW feature allows for re-writes but to play the discs on a standard DVD player or a computer, the disc must be finalized, meaning it can't be recorded to again

DVD+R and DVD+RW.  The most recently developed formats are the +R and +RW.  The plus sign indicates the recordings on +R or +RW discs do not have to be finalized before viewing.  You can write over what you've recorded or watch an already recorded disc and add more to it later.

.In relation to music, obviously if you record to a DVD, you will only be able to play it on the PC's DVD player or on DVD players that are compatible.

I don't use WMP for CD burning so I can't answer that question, I use my CD buring program for any CD/DVD burning - much more robust.  However, if the WMP burning application detects the DVD, and sets it up for burning, usually that means it will burn to one.
