NEC 2100A DVD+RW not working
Hello...I have a 8300 w/ the NEC 2100A DVD+RW drive. It will not recognize any blank media. It will play DVD's, CD's and game discs, but will not allow me to burn anything (no file type to CD-R, DVD+R, DVD-R are what I have tried).
I have done the Dell supplied flash, but no help. Any ideas...?
Thx

Hi Kuchdut,
Ok, just a side note: the NEC 2100a does not support writing to the DVD-R or DVD-RW media.
I would suggest you consider uninstalling and reinstalling the burning software, then test the drive again.
Happy New Year!

Hi Kuchdut,
Your drive will write to the following media:
DVD+R | DVD+RW | CD-R | CD-RW |
Here is your User Guide
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/storage/p64593/en/index.htm
Dell does a firmware update for this drive to address some read / write issuees.
Hover your mouse over the Product Support Tab above, click on the Downloads, enter information for your system and follow the links to "Removable Media Storage Devices", the 2100 is listed there. Some Members have had good luck it.
Best Regards
