nec 2100ad read problems
I have a dell dimension with the nec 2100ad drive. I was having problems burning at 8x and discovered that there was a firmware update to remedy such speed issues and media compatability issues. I flashed the firmware and can now burn at 8x using sony media. But..... now the drive will not read a dvd-r disc (ritek). I now create the image with my other drive (samsung sd616t) and write with the nec. I am upset that this has happened and wonder if there are any suggestions?

Hi Garjus,
Just to make sure it is not a driver issue; click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1 & Section 20, article 3. I am fairly sure you still have DMA enabled for the drive but check anyway, Section 15, article 14 & 17. Unfortunately the flash may have effected the drive as to what media it might prefer, in the real world, media is not created equal, try a different brand of DVD-R, small quanity at first.
