Need Firmware Download

My Dell desktop blew up a few months back and I want to recover the data on that internal hard drive as well as use it as an external hard drive with my new Dell laptop..

It is an OEM drive made by Seagate, a Barracuda 7200.10.  Seagate says I need to try and get the firmware download from Dell, but I cannot find a spot to download the version I need (Firmware 3.ADG) from Dell.

Any help sure would be appricated.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Carl2015,

Your desktop "blew up" (whatever that means) but you think the hard drive is OK? Why don't you purchase an external drive enclosure and install your hard drive in that, then plug it into your laptop to retrieve files?

I'm not sure why you think you need a firmware update.

Sorry, I should have said my desktop computer.  The HD from that computer is kinda small and all I mainly wanted to do was to look for any important data on it.  I can connect this HD to my laptop computer with my SATA to USB cord.  My Dell laptop does not recognize it.

I thought I needed a firmware download from Seagate, but Seagate said I needed the firmware down Dell.  I would rather not buy an external HD enclosure for a hard drive that will be retired in a month.

Thank you for your input and help.

Hi Carl,

Yes, I assumed you meant your desktop computer, just not sure exactly what blew up. :emotion-2:

Are you even sure the drive works? Unless you are able to connect it to something, there's no way to update the firmware, so I think that's not the path forward for this issue.
