Need help extending drive.
Hi, i have an old dell optiplex gx150. It originally had a Maxtor hd with about 10GBs of space. Eventually it filled up so we put a Seagate 160GB in it. The OS and all other important stuff was still on the old one and I basically used the new one for music storage.
I recently cloned the old drive onto the new drive, losing all my files on the new one. I wouldve backed up all my music but my disk drives are also screwed up and will not burn any type of cd.
So now I have 2 partitions on the new drive: a FAT partition which I have no idea about, and the original C: drive, with about 140GBs of unallocated space. I made the C: partition dynamic to try and extend it using DISKPART in the Command Prompt, but it tells me that i cannot extend it since it is the boot disk.
I have very little experience with this kind of stuff and i would just like to figure out what i can do as soon as possible. Any help is appreciated..

I would suggest that you use Seagate's DiscWizard tool and read and follow the directions.

Your inexperience most likely has made the data on the new drive gone forever.
What software did you use to clone the drive? Cloning usually leaves little room for customizing.
What you should have done was partitioned the new drive with a data sparing software like Partition Magic. Then imaged the old drive and restored it to the desired partition on the new drive.
That is the proper safe procedure when "cloning" an old smaller drive to a new bigger drive that has data on it.
