Need help installing Windows x64 on RAID-0

I guess this is the right forum to ask this question...

I have an XPS Gen 5 with 2x250GB RAID-0. It has Windows MCE 2005 installed. I created a 2nd partition of 50GB size with partition magic and tried installing Windows x64 on it but the HDD wasn't recognized. What do I need to do...

Thanks

I'm guessing the SATA drivers for the hdd is not included on you WinXP x64 CD/DVD.

In this case you'd probably have to install it during start of the setup when booting from cd/dvd (when it askes for SCSI drivers or something similar, it says press F6) or you'd have to create a custom install cd/dvd and add the SATA drivers.

I am a little confused. I tried to install XP Pro x64 again, nothing happened when I pressed F6 (maybe because I have a wireless keyboard and mouse) but after a little while the install couldn't locate any mass storage device and I was prompted to enter S to install additional drivers (for SCSI or RAID). I guess this is the time when I load the Intel Matrix Storage driver (64 bit version) from a floppy (I already created this). However, at this point, I backed out,  as I wasn't sure if my current XP MCE would be functional after the XP Pro x64 gets installed. Will I be over-writing the current Raid driver with the 64 bit version or will it be installed in the drive that I specify for installing for XP pro x64. I wouldn't want to find out the hard way so I continue my investigation. Any comments:smileyhappy:?

Thanks

I don't have any raid setup my self and I can't say I have any experience when it comes to raid.

I dunno how your raid setup will be affected. Usually when installing an OS the drivers you install are contained with in that OS and the partition it's installed on. But I really can't say how it would affect your raid configuration.

Which config do you have btw?

I am guessing that the RAID driver will be installed in the new partition and you can have dual boot between your win32 and win 64 os.  But just guessing, so a good back up would be best bet.

Never worked with dual boot for a long time but when I did I do remember each partiton having a complete set of OS files.
