New HD Install Causing Problems
Hello-
I recently purchased a Samsung SP161N (160 GB) and installed in my 8200. I disconnected my Zip drive and connected my new HD as secondary. Both HD are set to Cable Select. My original drive is connected at the end of the ribbon as Master. When I reconnected and started up my computer, it wasn't recognized as new hardware. There wasn't any change at all. I went through administrative tools and partitioned and formatted new drive. My computer then recognized the HD. Now herein lies the problem. After every other startup, I get the screen that apologizes that XP did not startup properly due to a recent crash or new hardware install and I must select from safe boot, last original successful boot, or regular boot. Once I choose regular boot (I know that isn't what it is called) then it starts up fine. Can anyone please advise me as to what I did wrong or how to fix the problem. Right now my new 160 GB hard drive is recognized as 149.50 and is formatted as a Simple, Dynamic HD. Please advise. (I don't have this HD listed in by bio below yet due to the problems I am having)

First, 160,000,000,000 bytes = 149.5 Gb (1024 bytes/Kb, 1024 Kb/Mb, 1024 Mb/Gb), so that is normal. As for the other problem, check your event viewer to see if it lists a problem.

Thanks for the info. I did more research here on forums and found a program called Disc Wizard 2003 from Seagate and went through install with that. Presto...problem fixed. Thanks for the suggestions thou.
