No Boot Device Available
Hi,
I have just put in a new hard disk into my XPS 420 after my previous one failed. I am getting a No Boot Device Available error message. Now - I thought I had a Windows 7 bootable disk - but clearly not as it is not working (I have set boot from USB/CD as the first boot option). Does anyone know if there is a way I can create a bootable disk or is there something else I can do?

A Windows 7 DVD is bootable unless the disc is damaged/scratched.

If you have the Windows 7 DVD in your optical drive, press F12 at boot time (when the Dell logo is flashing) and you should get the boot menu, at which point you select the optical drive.
If that's not a bootable disc, you can download an ISO image and burn one. Non-Dell install discs will require manual activation, but they will work.
