no bootable devices

Second time this has happened to me...after receiving the "blue screen of death" multiple times, I now have"primary hard disk drive not found; fixed optical drive not found; no bootable devices".  Last time support helped and we got it to work.  Now, when I try to reboot with my system disk, it won't do anything.  Do I need to replace my hard drive?

Sounds like you ignored the early warning signs. Reseat the drive; if it's still not found, it's history - replace it.

I wanted to replace it the first time I talked with support, but they convinced me it would work.  Now if I can get them on the phone instead of hold, maybe I can get a new hd on the way.  Thanks for your reply.

Run the Dell diagnostics if possible, and email them your service tag and the error. They will arrange to have a replacement drive sent.

Actually, after spending 90 min. online with tech support, they decided it was prob. the motherboard (seems this model has had many problems with that mother board) and a tech person to replace it this week.  Hopefully they will fix the problem.

The diagnostic would not run....
