NO DVD/CD ROM

I just restored the hard drive to original state because there were issues. When I went to go put in the cd for my Norton and Wireless, I noticed that there doesnt show a drive. I put the cd and nothing happens. So, I went through the process again. Still nothing. I have a Inspirion 1200. Someone mentioned to me about downloading a driver for it. The problem is that I do not know what to look for or what I am doing so I am asking for help. Thank you.
