No record on CDs

I’m using a Dell 1501 with XP SP2. I can’t copy files to a CD. This problem just started. I select the file that I want to copy then go to my computer and click on write these files to CD. Then I get a message telling me there is no CD in the drive but there is and I have tried a couple and get the same message. There are no files on the CDs they are blank. The files I have tried to copy are not that large, the largest was around 47 meg. I don’t understand because I just copied some files week before last. I put in a CD with files on it and it reads those just fine. So I don’t know what to try now?  Under the device manager is list the drive as HL-DT-ST CDRW/DVD GCCT10N and says it’s working properly.

thanks

Run a full diagnostic on the CD/DVD drive and see if any errors pop up.  To run diagnostics, hit F12 before windows boots up.

Well I ran the tests and everything was okay. After that though the drive saw the blank CD in the drive and I was able to copy files to it. Kind of strange?

Oh well, the diagnostics must have scared the gremlins out of your computer!  As long as it works, I am glad.  Good luck.  :smileyhappy:
