Primary Hard Disk Drive 0 Not Found (Hellllllllllpppppppppp)

Hey guys,

This morning, i went to my main desk, lifted my laptop and tried to place it on my second desk. During this process, i heard the kind of sound u hear when u move a laptop that has a CD in its CD-ROM drive. You know the spinning sound. But i didnt have a CD in my laptop at the time. When i looked at the screen, it was black. I pressed my power button for 4 seconds and restarted but when it booted, i saw this error message:

Primary Harddisk drive 0 Nor found error. Press F1 to Retry reboot or F2 to setup.

Pressing F1 doesnt make any difference. Pressing F2 takes me to Bios. In the BIOS, the Primary Disk Drive says "None". What can be done to solve this? I have extremely important data on this disk.

The properties of my system are:

Dell Latitude D800
Hitachi 40GB Hard Disk.

Hope to hear something soon.

Reseat the drive. If it still isn't found, see if the CD-ROM drive will work. If it does, chances are the drive has failed completely - contact a data recovery service (Ontrack, Drive Savers, etc.) and brace yourself for the cost.

ok i really dont know what this reseating actually means.....I removed the drive from its place and just slid it back into the computer. Do i actually have to unscrew the "actual" drive from the metal casing in which it is?? Is this what reseating means?? Holla back

Sliding the drive out and back in again is enough - if that didn't work, you need a data recovery service.
