Problem Partitioning C drive

I'm trying to partition my 80GB  C drive using Drive Image, so that I can use the new D drive to store back ups.

Drive Image reports Error 2103, partition of specified size could not be created.

I then tried Partition Magic to make the new partition. Although there is over 60 GB free space, PM will not let me create a partition over about 30MB !!

I have searched the PowerQuest, Dell KB help databases, along with Goolge, but can not find why the drive is "locked" to such a small size.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks,

Chas.

Chas Tass.

Try using Partition Magic 8 or Acronis Disc Director Suite 9.0.

My friend told me it is probably the software you use has a limit on the space it can make partition.

Partition Magic 6 won't work with the NTFS in XP - you need to upgrade or replace it.

Looks like PM 8 will not help, see

Perhaps it might be easiest to add another HDD ?
