Problems trying to play DVD's

I have an inspiron and i recently found that i was unable to play DVD's.  Not only could i not play them on Intervideo WinDVD, I couldn't play them on Windows Media Player either.  When I try using Intervideo WinDVD, it will play for a few seconds then a message comes up saying that it has experienced a problem and needs to close.

I have checked the hardware settings for my DVD drive and it is set for region 2 (The correct region as i live in England).  Can anyone help?

Try Powerdvd (there's a trail version) instead.  Have you ever successfully played any dvd's in the past?  What error did you received when using WMA player?  What machine, how much memory and OS are you running?  Does the drive work at all with music, data.  Provide more details.

I have this problem with all my client's 600m systems using winDVD 4.0. Dell posted an update (file id: R62171.exe) but during the install it says I have the wrong version of Win DVD and stops.

I tried PowerDVD and it works OK.
