problems with installing new hard drive
got new hard drive 250gig... all is fine but after a few hours it just wont boot up again... just get a flashing cursor in the screen... onl thing i can do is reformat from there... done it three times now and the same problem...
formatted all from scratch... its fine for about five hours reboooting etc after installing everthing... but after that it just stops working... it works fine using it till the reboot...

its an ide hard drive the 250GB Hitachi Deskstar 7K2507,200RPM / 8MB Buffer...
bios reads the hard drive fine...
dell dimension 8200 series bios version A08...
as far as motherboard i have no idea... edit - intel850e...
ran disk diagnostics and says nothing wrong with it...

try going here and getting the a09 bios or try dell support web site
It sounds like you may have a faulty drive, but try a09 first, then I assume you had no problem previous to this hdd, are you using xp?

seems to be working fine as a slave so goin to keep it as that...
give it a few days to see if there are any problems... if there are then will send it back... if not just keep it the way it is...
