Reformat, option "Quick" or not?
I just got my HD replaced and the tech guy on the phone said to do "quick" reformat option instead of the other one. Prior, I was reformated without quick; is there a difference? Also, I noticed that my windows has this weird "lag" sometimes when opening apps or files. I'm thinking of doing another reformat and not choosing the "quick" option.

The quick format only deletes the file allocation table. You can use this for any drive that was previously formatted. This should not make any difference in the performance of the system.
However, there are other things that can make a system lag such as you describe. The most obvious one would be if the drive is running in PIO mode, not DMA (if it's an IDE hard drive). You can check this under the Primary Channel of your IDE controller.
