Replacing an XPS M1710 HDD with an SSD OCZ Vertex 128gb VTX425 sat 3

My questions are:

1)Will it work?

2)Will it be faster than the original?

3) or, would I be better with a hybrid drive?

I can only see that the M1710 has SATA whereas the SSD is SATA 3, will this degrade the performance of the SSD?

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all info.

You should be able to use any SSD - and it will boost performance, but the controller being SATA, you won't see anywhere near the boost you would with a newer system.  A hybrid drive is a better buy from a cost/performance standpoint.
