Replacing Hot Swap Drive
I have a R310 with PERC6i and SAS6IRH Hot Plug Drive module. One of my drives is showing up with Medium Errors in RedHat Enterprise 6.2. I have two drives RAIDed and one other of the same size as a backup drive. I would like to use the backup drive to replace the drive with medium errors. Since this has medium errors and my OS is running again I would prefer not to reboot. I'm surprised that I'm finding very little info about swapping the drive in the knowledge base.
1. Does the backup drive I wish to use have to be formatted to use?
2. Do I Hot Swap the backup drive to the drive with issues?
The funny thing about this is that this system is scheduled to be decommissioned in several weeks.
Thanks
